Passengers often ask why the Baku Metro management does not upgrade the Baku subway cars. Today, the management commented on these proposals. “Baku Metro has contract with the Mytishchi Machine-Building Plant of the Russian Federation for the supply of cars. However, I have no information why only cars of the Russian production have been purchased so far,” Baku Metro spokesman Nazakat Tariverdiyeva said.

In turn, Baku Metro chief engineer Etibar Isayev said cars manufactured in Europe are expected to be purchased in the near future. "They will be exploited on the new, projected subway lines- Avtovokzal and Memar Ajami-2. Thus, more comfortable cars meeting the European standards will operate on the subway line. As for the expected date of the supply of new cars, Isayev said he lacks such information.
