Azerbaijan`s Justice Ministry and the World Bank have signed a new loan agreement on additional financial resources for a project aimed at modernizing the country`s justice system.
The agreement was signed by Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov and World Bank acting manager on Azerbaijan Saida Bagirli.

Speaking to the signing ceremony, Mammadov highlighted the government`s reforms to modernize Azerbaijan`s justice system. The World Bank representatives praised the cooperation between Azerbaijan`s Justice Ministry and the Bank, in particular what had been done under the project of modernization of justice system.

The project saw the development of projects of more than 20 new court-houses and court complexes, with the construction of new buildings for courts of Baku city Yasamal district, Gandja city Nizami district, Gadabay region almost completed. As part of the project the Constitutional and Supreme courts, Judicial-Legal Council and Justice Ministry were supplied with advanced information and communication technologies.

The new document also provides for the construction of new court-houses and court complexes, wide application of advanced information and communication technologies, the improvement of execution of court decisions and legal assistance system, and the strengthening of potential of Justice Academy and Lawyers Board.
