The Georgian public broadcaster GPB has announced that the country will be represented by 23-year-old Sopho Nizharadze in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.

The song that she will sing on stage in Oslo will be chosen in the end of February during a special TV show.

Sopho Nizharadze was born on the 6th of February 1986 in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. She graduated with honors from musical academy, and already at the age of 17, she had won several international competitions like "Bravo, Bravissimo!" in Mini La Scala (Italy), "Crystal Note" in Moscow, and "Crystal Fur-tree" in her home country.

In 2001, she became a soloist in the Georgian National Philharmonia. Shortly after that, she started her career as a theatre actor at the Moscow State Academy of Theatre and Art and played in Romeo and Juliet, among others.

She also had roles in musicals including Notre Dame de Paris (Russian Tour Version).In 2005, Sopho was a finalist in the New Wave Festival in Jurmala, Latvia.

The Georgian Public Broadcaster GPB opened a competition for songwriters to send in songs for Sopho until the 3rd of February. Out of those, five songs will be selected for a national final, to take place in the end of February.

Video clips will be prepared for all songs, too. The winning song will be selected by a combination of televoting and the verdict of an expert jury.
