Through the past years Azerbaijan reached significant progress in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, said head of the center for political innovations and technologies Mubariz Ahmedoghlu at a press conference.
"Most leading states have changed their position regarding Azerbaijan's policy in the Karabakh issue", noted he.
"Thus in 1989, the US senate decided that Gorbachov must recognize the sovereignty of Nagorno Karabakh. The document fixed that Azerbaijan holds neighbor Georgia in blocade, that Azerbaijanis murder Armenians and Jews in Nagorno Karabakh. But at that time there was not a single Jew officially registered in Nagorno Karabakh", said Ahmedoghlu.
He said when Vladimir Putin came to power in the Kremlin, Moscow has fully changed its position on Karabakh.
"Moscow immediately stated that it will annex the territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia while Nagorno Karabakh and Transdniestrian conflicts will become a object of trade. The meeting with participation of Presidents of Moldova Vladimir Voronin and Transdniestria Igor Smirnov on which they will discuss issue of granting a special status within Moldova to Transdniestria", said the political scientist.
He noted that Moscow is preparing the same variant for Nagorno Karabakh.
"Moreover, Russia states that CSTO will not interfere with the military actions between the countries in the CIS area", noted Ahmedoghlu.
He said Azerbaijan always correcting its policy in the settlement of the Karabakh issue, dictating its new conditions with the growth in the strength of the Azerbaijani state.
"Heydar Aliyev voiced the philosophy of the Azerbaijani government in the resolution of the Karabakh issue, stating that we will settle this issue independently and now we will have to wait for what the West and Russia can propose in this direction", said the political scientist.
According to Ahmedoghlu, changes to the Azerbaijani Constitution are directly aimed at the resolution of the Karabakh issue.
"In the nearest future we will witness the greatest success of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh issue. We judge about our achievements from the reaction of the third parties. Thus, if not long ago the OSCE Minsk Group stated the need to observe three principles of the Final Helsinki act, they have cardinally changed their position within a day and stated the need to observe only the principle of non-application of force. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also changed his statements on this issue several times. Before leaving Moscow he made one statement and in Baku he stated the need to observe the principle of non-application of powers and search of ways of the resolution of the Karabakh conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group", noted he.
According to the political scientist, Azerbaijan reached profound changes in this direction in the UN frames.
"In fact Azerbaijan tends to receive sanctions on the right to conduct war from the UN. Baku demands from UN either to settle the Karabakh conflict - the world community must press on Yerevan for Armenia to release the occupied Azerbaijani lands. Or Azerbaijan retains the right of the armed liberation of the occupied lands", noted Ahmedoghlu.
He said the parties supporting Armenia were bewildered at Baku's success in UN.
"UN is currently silent. It may seem that Azerbaijan's efforts within this organization will lead to nothing. But we ted not only to force world states to put pressure on Armenia for Yerevan to liberate the occupied Azerbaijani lands by means of UN. Azerbaijan uses all opportunities to settle the conflict. If peace talks do not lead to a positive result, tomorrow Baku may take an armed resolution of the Karabakh conflict. And in this case if the United States and Russia speak against this step, we have official documents, adopted in the UN frames that Armenia has occupied the Azerbaijani lands and Baku has a right to release its lands", said the political scientist.
According to Ahmedoghlu, Azerbaijan will liberate its lands by all means.
"Ilham Aliyev is not planning to run away and it will not yield a single part of Azerbaijani lands to anyone", said he.
