The European Union is launching a program aimed at the exploration and feasibility study of the Tbilisi-Yerevan railroad in the framework of the TRASECA program.
The study of alternative railroad via Azerbaijan will be conducted as well.
According to EU representative office in Yerevan, experts will soon study the state of railroads and introduce the detailed proposal on their repair.
The program will be implemented by the Italian-Ukrainian consortium, comprising Italian Lattanzio e Associati S.p.A., International Consulting&Service Group s.r.l., International Railway Technology &Service s.r.l. and Ukrainian Khardiprotrans OJSC.
The aim of the TACIS-TRASECA program of the European Union is to promote the economic and political development of the Black Sea and Caucasus region, as well as Central Asia by way of improving the railway infrastructure.
Currently TRASECA involves 13 countries: 5 European, 3 Caucasian and 5 Central Asian states.
