The next presidential elections will become a step forward towards the further development of democracy in Azerbaijan, said special representative of the CE Secretary General in Azerbaijan Veronika Kotek, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

"Election is a chance of a state to show its abilities. I am sure that Azerbaijan has an opportunity to use this chance", said she speaking at a two-day seminar for the lawyers of the Central Election Commission and regional election commissions, organized by the CE Venice Commission in cooperation with the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, which started in Baku Thursday.

Deputy head of the OSCE office in Baku Alexis Shakhtakhtinski called the presidential elections a critical moment in the history of Azerbaijan.

"We support Azerbaijan's efforts in this direction and we are working together for the elections to be successful", noted he.

The importance of the timely and professional consideration of complaints, received  by the Central Election Commission and district election commissions during voting, was stressed by representative of the CE Venice Commission Sergey Kuznetsov.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panakhov voiced hope that the officials of the election commissions of Azerbaijan will assimilate the necessary international standards on consideration of complaints during elections.

"We should demonstrate readiness to join a single democratic family", concluded he.
