It is now possible to say that by results of 2009 the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia will top $2 bln, said Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov at a press conference today.
At the same time, the ambassador considers that the economic relations between the two countries lack large investment projects.
"There are no large projects in the sphere of not only Russian investments to Azerbaijan but also Azerbaijani investments to Russia. Azerbaijan is already capable of implementation of large economic projects beyond its bounds", said the ambassador.
Istratov noted that the absence of an intergovernmental agreement on investment protection hinders this process. He said only one point has not been coordinated in the said agreement, which lingers the document signing.
