Azerbaijan will soon raise volumes of natural gas supplies to other countries, said president of the state oil company of Azerbaijan Rovnaq Abdullayev.
At the same time, Abdullayev noted that the gas will be supplied to Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Italy, Switzerland and other European countries, as well as Iran.
Through five months of this year Azerbaijan exported 4.4 bln cubic meters of gas, which is up 74% as compared to the same period of 2007. Transportation of 1.9 bln cubic meters of gas fall on the South Caucasus gas pipeline.
Currently Azerbaijan is able to supply gas only to Russia, Turkey, Georgia and Iran.
Abdullayev noted that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan should study commercial proposals of the European companies as Europe's demands of gas rose in 2010-2015.
SOCAR President especially noted that Azerbaijan does not intend to be a shareholder in the projects of gas pipelines construction "as it may create certain conflicts and resentment".
"Therefore, it is more profitable for us to be only a gas supplier", said Abdullayev.
