21 June 2012 [19:38] - Today.Az
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has opened a pipeline in the
village of Osiauri in eastern Georgia on Thursday. Gasification of the
village was carried out by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR)
under the presidential program "Gas to all villages."
According to the President of Georgia, there is another innovation
that was introduced with the consent of the SOCAR. Now, gasification of a
house is possible in installments.
"We, along with the Energy Ministry and our Azerbaijani partners
managed to agree on the fact that farmers will pay 30 lari ($ 1 = 1.63
lari) a month and they will be provided with the gas. SOCAR will take a
bank loan itself, and will cover the debt," Saakashvili said, thanking
the company for understanding.
The president personally connected the gas distributor for the villagers.
In 2015, with the assistance of SOCAR under the presidential program there will be 250,000 new gas customers in Georgia.
