The Gobustan test site for alternative energy will be connected to the electricity distribution network of Azerenergy until September, deputy head of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy under the Ministry of Industry and Energy Ministry Jamil Melikov said on Tuesday.

He said the electricity produced at the site will be supplied to subscribers at a standard price set out in the country for one kilowatt (0.06 manat).

Melikov said it is planned to supply electricity to Maraza in the first stage and cover the entire area of Gobustan during the second phase.

At present, the total design capacity of the polygon is 5.5 megawatts, 2.7 MW of which accounts for turbines on the regeneration of wind energy, 1.8 megawatt for solar panel and one megawatt for energy produced from biomass.

Taking into account the scope of the entire area, there are plans to build a fourth wind turbine with a capacity of 2.5 MW, respectively. The total capacity of the landfill will reach eightt megawatts.
