Izmir to host first congress of Azerbaijanis in Turkey

Izmir  will host the First Congress of Azerbaijanis living in Turkey  on April 23-24, Co-founder of the "Canaz" television channel Camal Mehmetoglu told Trend on Thursday.

He said the First Congress of Azerbaijanis in Turkey will focus on ensuring and strengthening unity among the countrymen, as well as establishing close relations with Azerbaijanis living in different parts of the world.

The main topic will be the crimes committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples in Anatolia and Azerbaijan over the past hundred years.

The grandchildren of activists, who took part in the creation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, have been invited to participate in the event. According to unofficial data, one million Azerbaijanis reside in Turkey.
