Azerbaijani junior group team took the third place in the international competitions "Pearl of St. Petersburg" held in Russia within the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup.
The quartet consisting of Irada Ahadzade, Medina Hasanova, Mansoura Mehdiyeva and Alia Pashayeva lost to Russian and Belarusian teams in two exercises, Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation press-service reported.
"Our gymnasts took the third place with four hoops at the track 'Blue frost', and with four ribbons at "Carnival" and got the "bronze" inall-around competitions. With the same music the group will perform in the European Championship to be held in Bremen in 10 days. I hope we will perform there well. All future participants of the Euro-2010, both individual and group, will be trained at the capital's Olympic sports complex until April 13 - the date of the team's departure to Germany, head coach Mariana Vasilyeva said.
Gymnast Anna Gurbanova performed at the World Cup and took the 7th place in the all-around competition. She got a pass in all four finals. Her best result in the final tournament was the seventh line with a ribbon. Olympic champion Evgenia Kanayeva was the leading athlete.
