Common Turkic alphabet may appear

Drafted legislation on a Turkic language and alphabet must be developed in the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA), General Secretary of Assembly Ramil Hasanov said at a press conference in Baku.

"Creating of a common Turkic language and alphabet based on the views of the Turkic-speaking countries' parliamentarians should be in the form of a bill," Mr Hasanov said. He added that if the TurkPA commission submits proposals in a single document by June 2012, the matter may be tabled in the Assembly, which will be held in the same year in Bishkek.

It mustn't be thought of as a rejection of any Turkic country from its own alphabet and language. "Each country along with its alphabet can use a common alphabet," he said.
It was suggested that a common Turkic alphabet can be created using the common letters of the entire Turkic-speaking countries alphabet. "Each country can teach a new alphabet, alongside its own one, to be able to read materials, jointly published by all the Turkic-speaking countries," Mr Hasanov said.
