
The 32nd meeting of Caspian Sea Aquatic Bioresources Commission has today started here. The representatives of ministries and committees of Fisheries of the Caspian littoral states are attending the event.
Speaking in the event, Azerbaijan`s deputy minister of ecology and natural resources Rauf Hajiyev said the meeting will discuss fishing quotas, protection and current situation of fishery resources, bans the industrial hunting of sturgeon and other issues.
The meeting also will discuss an agreement on protection of sturgeons` resources in the Caspian Sea developed by Russia. On current situation of biological resources of the Caspian Sea, Hajiyev pointed out current stocks of sturgeon are in a critical state, added that it`s high time for a ban on commercial sturgeon fishing. The speakers stressed importance of the meeting towards solving relevant problems. The meeting will last till December 16.
