Azerbaijani ecology ministry assesses state of forests

Azerbaijan does not record any trend of decreasing the forest area, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists. "Gasification of the settlements, use of renewable energy has led to significant reduction in the   chopping down of wood. To prevent the reduction in forest area, there was carried out an intensive tree-planting operation, which succeeded in breaking the trend of decreasing forest area,” he said.   International experts have confirmed the increase of forest fund of Azerbaijan by 0.4 percent, he said.
