Women rights violation discussed in Baku

The U.S. Embassy in Baku yesterday hosted an event dedicated to combating violence against women. In action attended by parliamentarians and public figures, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza and his spouse Zeyno Baran shared their views on the issue with the participants. As stated, violence against women is a problem inherent in many societies and the embassy is going to launch a program to combat related questions. The Embassy cooperates with appropriate organizations and non-governmental structures to struggle against violence against women.

Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Children and Women Affairs Hijran Huseynova, Azerbaijan Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova informed on the legislative acts adopted on the questions.
