‘Azerbaijan’s economic development resulted in increase in immigrants’ flow to country’

A delegation of the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection of Population Ministry led by deputy minister Natig Mammadov attended Monday the 100th session of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva.

Addressing the session, Mammadov briefed the participants on the ongoing migration reforms in his country. He said economic development of Azerbaijan had resulted in increase in the flow of immigrants to the country. Mammadov noted rights of immigrants in Azerbaijan were protected in accordance with international norms.

The deputy minister spoke of the progress made in his country to improve relevant legislation and stop illegal immigration. He also underlined the importance of cooperation with international organizations to regulate migration processes.
