The measures are taken for intensification of work on extradition of the foreign citizens convicted in Azerbaijan to their countries, Chief of Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service Madat Guliyev told journalists.
The service chief said that it was foreign embassies delaying the extradition process. “The international cooperation office of the Justice Ministry is engaged in this work. But as a result of slow work of foreign embassies and representatives, the handing over of those persons to their countries requires much time”.
Guliyev noted that there were cases of delivering prohibited things to the detention facilities. “Such cases are prevented. We frequently face delivering of drugs and mobile phones. We work for improvement of professional education of employees of Penitentiary Service in order to prevent such cases”.
