Bird flu monitoring starts in Azerbaijan

The State Veterinary Service (SVS) of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan continues monitoring for control over bird flu infection via migratory birds.

Press service of the SVS said that next monitoring of bird migration will be started. The monitoring will involve employees and experts of the SVS, the Ministries of Environment & Natural Resources and Health, the “Ovchular” Society.

The monitoring will be conducted in national preserves and parks of Absheron peninsula, Shabran, Salyan, Agjabedi and Lankaran region where the migratory birds are temporary settled, as well as in the country’s sea shore zones and other areas. Besides, the examples of poultry farms and personal agricultures will be taken during the monitoring.

The results of the monitoring will be announced on November 25.

SVS reminds that in connection with the migration of birds and cold weather, the poultries must be kept under close conditions. The fowling, sale of migrant and wild birds and their cooking are prohibited.

Currently the epizootic situation in connection with bird flu disease is stable in Azerbaijan.
