Results of monitoring conducted in Baku Detention Facility made public

Joint Working Group on Implementation of International Standards of Human Rights conducted monitoring in Baku Detention Facility of Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service.

A press conference on the results of monitoring has been held today. It was noted that the representatives of Azerbaijani human rights organizations, as well as the foreign experts are represented in the Working Group.

Informing about the results of monitoring, Member of the Belgian Constitutional Court Jean-Paul Murman said that 1700 persons were held in detention in the facility. The acts of more than 90% of them were proved legally. Expert said that the rights of detainees were secured and they were given an opportunity to meet family members and lawyers, as well as o become familiar with the defense documents.

Members of the Working Group expressed satisfaction with the results of the monitoring.
