Marriage age for girls raised in Azerbaijan

Marriage age limit for girls in Azerbaijan will be raised to 18 extending it one year, Parliament’s Committee on Legal Policy and State-building and Committee on Social Policy declared in their joint meeting.

Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy Hadi Rajabli said that the marriage age for girls was 17 up to now, but this limit will be 18 after corresponding amendment in the Family Code.

The draft was recommended to the Parliament’s plenary meeting.
