A new project for teaching the children of IDP’s and refugees to be launched in Azerbaijan

13 May 2010 [15:45] - TODAY.AZ
Public Association for Children and Youth "NUR", with financial support from the Council of State support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan began implementing a project to teach children of refugees and IDP’s, entitled "My Rights", told Trend Life Vice-Chairman of “NUR” Sitara Aldostova.

10% of children in Azerbaijan are still living as refugees and internally displaced persons. These children are still deprived of those rights which are specified in the Convention on the Rights of Children and other international documents. Most of them dont even know their rights.

The main objective in conducting this project is to create a group of children, who have a wealth of information about children's rights, who can objectively analyze the situation, express their rights and to make proposals concerning the question of a favorable society.

This project will organize a Summer School "Children's Rights" in June 2010. 30 children of refugees and IDPs under age of 18, will take part in it. This project would be a great incentive for children to increase their confidence in themselves and in their talent. The project will affect the behavior of children, will change their view on their lives and to their peers. Children growing up, will respect the rights of other children.
