Azerrail defeated in Italy

Azerbaijan women's volleyball champions Azerrail were beaten by hosts Italian Foppapedretti 0-3 in the play-off round of the European Volleyball Champions League Wednesday.

The Italians won 25-11, 25-17, 25-16. The second game will be played in Baku next Wednesday.

Six winners of play-off ties will progress to the so-called fours final to be held in the Swiss capital, Zurich, in March.

They will join hosts Volero who are given an exempt status to the play-off stage. AzerTAg
