Elman Osmanov sues Prosecutor's office

He told APA that he appealed to the Prosecutor's Office twice on extradition of Russian citizen Chechen-origin Dadji Chankayev to Russia who was sentenced to seven years in jail by Appeals Court. "But, my appeal has not been answered. I can't receive legal decision to extradite him to Azerbaijan. I sued the Prosecutor’s Office. The case will be reviewed at Sabayel Court soon," he said.

Chankayev was member of a 15-member gang composed of Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish and Yamane citizens, which were tried on the charges of terrorist acts, murders. Most of the gang members were members of religious organizations, including Al Qaida. They were trained in Georgia, Pankisi camps.

He was extradited to Russia on July 29 and charged with terrorisitc acts. Russian police accuse him of stealing horses 13 year ago in Kalmykia.
