Heavy shower cause serious problems in Baku

It rained heavily in Baku on Friday.

The rain at the night of October 26 to 27 constitutes 81% percent of monthly norm. But it rained more than monthly norm at early hours on October 27, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry (ENRM) National Hydrometeorology Department bureau told the APA.

IM Traffic Police told the PA that heavy rain caused short and long-term traffic jam in Heydar Aliyev, Bulbul, Moscow, Feteli Khan Khoyski, Azadlig avenues, in front of Khetai metro, Fuzuli square and other areas. They were removed later. Relevant bodies of Emergences Ministry began to take measures against the current situation in the capital. The fire-engines were involved to absorb the water in the streets.

The heavy rain influenced the work of subway stations. The work of Baku Soveti and Sahil metrostations was stopped for 30 minutes because of disconnect at about 11.00. In the result of taken immediate measures the disorder was removed. Baku subway told the APA that it happened because of disconnection in Baku Soveti-Gara Garayev line. "After 20 minutes the disorder in subway was removed. No one was injured during the incident."

ENRM National Hydrometeorology Department bureau told the APA it began to rain intensively in some Azerbaijan regions and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the afternoon. It will last till October 31. It is forecasted that it will rain heavily during this period.
