Nushirevan Meherremli: "Transmission of foreign TV channels to be licensed in Azerbaijan"

"We have only an oral agreement with the Communication and Information Technologies Ministry (CITM) for broadcasting foreign TV channels including, Russian ORT and RTR channels," he said.

He also said that the Ministry will consider the license problem of foreign channels after solving the same problem of local channels and legalize their broadcasting. NTRC chief also stated that there will be a difference between foreign and local channels’ license price.

The CITM Teleradio production deputy chief Aflatun Sherifov said the Ministry has a one- year contract with RTR channel.

"Avangard" Russia-Azerbaijan joint enterprise has a contract with the ORT channel. Sherifov also said foreign channels are transmitted without a license in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
