
A seasonal outlook was made by the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry for winter 2012-13 in Azerbaijan.
Seasonal forecasts are prepared in the 5 regional centers of World Meteorology Organization, simultaneously in Northern Eurasia Climate Center and Center for Climatic Chages in Eastern European countries
and published for all member states of organization. Seasonal predictions are made on more realistic models which are choosen from the numerous digital, dynamic and statistic ones.
According to the consequences of above models, at the same time to the examination of long-term statistical meteorological informations, temperature of winter 2012-13 in Azerbaijan is expected to be within the climatic norm and a little more than the norm.
It should be mentioned that, temperature in the first decade of December is predicted to be 2-3 degrees above the climatic norm, but to fluctuate within the norm in the second and third decades of the month.
Generally, winter season is expected to be relatively mild, while frosty and snowy days are not excluded, also. According to the climatic feature of winter in our country, customarily in January and February our region faces the arctic weather currents more oftenly. Thus, temperature is forecasted to drop below the the norm for a short period of time in the middle and at the end of winter. While precipitations are expected to be nigh to the climatic norm.
