Mountains in Shamakhi catch fire, over 100 firefighters involved in extinguishing fire

A strong fire blazed up in the mountains of Shamakhi.

Shamakhi State Fire Protection Service reported  that the fire, which started in the mountains of Aghsu, gradually widened and passed the area of Shamakhi. Fire-engines and more than 100 employees of Fire Protection Services of Shamakhi, Aghsu and Ismayilli were involved in extinguishing the fire, which blazed up at the northern side of Cherkez and Adnali villages of Shamakhi.

Two helicopters of Aviation Detachment were involved to the site due to the danger of the spread of fires in forest areas. The firefighters fought with fire till 21.30. Due to the fact that the fires occurred in mountains, mostly the firefighters and helicopters fought with fire.

The firefighters hardly extinguished the fire. The fire was prevented to damage forests, farms and houses. Shrubbery, hay and small trees in totally 30 ha area burnt. The firefighters will control the area till the morning. The reason of the fire is unknown.

The investigation is being carried out into the fact.
