Raids on poaching activities held in Azerbaijan

Employees of the related bodies of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry conducted next raids with the purpose to inspect the condition of conformity with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On hunting” in the territory of the country on Feb. 18-27, 2012.

During the raids 53 shotguns, 88 birds and 200 cartridges were confiscated from the 56 poachers, and a statement was accordingly drawn up against them. An administrative penalty worth AZN 12000 was imposed on the law violators. In this regard, illegal hunters including 5 (with 6 shotguns and 6 cartridges) in Absheron region, 11 (with 11 shotguns and 88 cartridges) in Imishli region, 12 (with 12 shotguns and 46 cartridges) in Garadag region, 2 (with 2 shotguns and 25 cartridges) in Saatli region, 2 (with 1 shotgun and 5 cartridges) in Lankaran region, 1 (with 1 shotgun) in Neftchala region, 1 (with 1 shotgun) in Shaki region, 3 (with 3 shotguns and 3 cartridges) in Agsu region, 3 (with 3 shotguns) in Ismayilli region, 2 (with 2 shotguns) in Kurdamir region, 3 (with 3 shotguns) in Oguz region, 1 (with shotgun) in Jalilabad region, 3 (with 3 shotguns and 26 cartridges) in Bilasuvar region, 1 (with 1shotgun) in Shirvan city, 1 (with 1 shotgun) in Guba region, 2 (with 2 shotguns and a cartridge) in Gakh region were seized, and a protocol was drawn up, and a penalty was imposed in compliance with the law.

The related Regional Police Departments were resorted to for the determination of identity of the law violators which did not present certain document. Raids are regularly conducted by the related bodies of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources for the purpose of prevention of activities regarding illegal hunting in the territory of the country.
