Boat with 72 people on board goes down in Iran

A boat with 72 people on board went down in Iran in a distance of 15 miles (about 28 kilometers) from Assaluyeh Port on Thursday night, IRINN reported on Friday.

The boat, which belonged to the Pars Oil and Gas Company and used to transport staff and equipment from the South Pars field, was reportedly floating from the Persian Gulf's oil rigs to Assaluyeh Port.

Rescue helicopters and boats are carrying out search work at the place of an incident.

At the moment, 60 people were found, five of them are dead, Fars News Agency reported.

Searching for the rest 12 people is still under way. Six of the missing people are Indian citizens while another one is a Ukrainian national.
