Turkish Airlines starts flights to Dammam

Turkish national flag carried made its maiden flight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, a company statement said. Turkish Airlines (THY) launched its flights from Istanbul to Dammam on Tuesday. THY will fly from Istanbul to Dammam on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays; and from Dammam to Istanbul on Tuesdays; Fridays and Sundays.

Dammam is THY's fourth destination in Saudi Arabia after Jeddah, Riyadh and Medina. The number of passengers carried by THY in the first nine months of 2011 rose by 11 percent to 24.3 million compared with the same period of last year. The national airline company carried 21.9 million between January and September 2010. Meanwhile THY's occupancy rate decreased by 1.7 points to 72.6 percent in the mentioned period.

Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, headquartered in Istanbul. It operates scheduled services to 146 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 187 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 THY carried 17 million, 19.7 million, 22.5 million, 25.1 million and 29 million passengers with total revenues of US$2.23, $3.0, $4.5, $4 and $5.6 billion, respectively.
