Brussels hosted the sixth plenary session of talks between Georgia and the EU to develop the association agreement. This event is a regular working meeting within the negotiations on the association agreement, the press service of the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

The plenary session on July 11 discussed the preamble of the agreement: institutional, general and final paragraphs, and themes of the first and second working group (political dialogue and reform, cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy, justice, freedom and security). And on July 12, the sides discussed issues of the third working group (financial, economic and sectoral cooperation). The sides summed up the results of the progress achieved in the negotiations and determined future plans. According to estimates of the sides, the talks were held in a constructive atmosphere.

At the plenary session, the Georgian delegation was headed by chief negotiator - Deputy Foreign Minister Tornike Gordadze. The European delegation was headed by chief negotiator - the European External Action Service's Deputy Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia Gunnar Wiegand.

The future association agreement between Georgia and the EU will replace the agreement on partnership and cooperation existing between the sides and provides significant deepening of relations and raising them to a new, higher level.
