Iran refutes docking of Israeli ships in Iranian ports

30 May 2011 [12:31] - TODAY.AZ
No ships belonging to Israel has docked in the Iranian ports, deputy managing director at Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization, Mohsen Sadeghifar, told IRNA news agency.

Sadeqifar's remarks came after Israeli daily Haaretz claimed that at least 13 Tanker Pacific ships, owned by a leading Israeli company, Ofer Brothers Group, have docked in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas and Kharg Island over the past decade. Last week the U.S. included the company in the black list because of its selling a ship to Iran. As a response to the U.S. sanction, Ofer Brothers Group stated that it has sold a ship to a company in the UAE, but it was not aware of company's connection to Iran.

Sadeghifar said that any ship must obtain an official permission from the Customs Department or from the Trade Ministry in order to enter the Iranian ports. "Because of hostility between Iran and Israel, the Islamic Republic would never permit the Israeli ships to dock in the Iranian ports," he said.
