30 May 2011 [09:21] - TODAY.AZ
Iran unveiled the first indigenous hydrobike, ISNA reported. The hydrobike which cost 2,000 dollars to be built was sent to Bandar Abbas port on Saturday.

The designer of the project, Mohammad Amiri told ISNA that, "the plan to manufacture the bike came to my mind as I was going to cross over a river in Bangladesh, but there was nothing to carry me except ships."

He added, "the bike has already faced problems frequently when it has been put into waters, we removed shortcomings and finally turned it into the first hydrobike in the country."

"The bike has been tested for 18 months," he said adding, "no foreign model was followed in the project and it is the first locally-made hydrobike in the country."

The bike which weighs 64 kg can carry a passenger with the maximum weight of 100kg.
