Iran executes eleven people

Eleven people were executed in Iran yesterday. Two of them were executed in the Sari City Prison, four in the Yasuj City Prison, four in Shiraz and one in Qazvin city, Iranian IRNA news agency reported.

According to information, these individuals are accused of purchase and sale, and use of drug, robbery using gun, kidnapping, rape and series of crimes.

According to media outlets, 143 people have been executed in Iran since early 2011. Over 85 people accused of drug smuggling and rape have been executed.

The UN and Amnesty International have repeatedly demanded from Iran to stop executions. Human rights activists state that the number of executions in Iran is more than the official statistics.
