Georgian armored vehicles presented during military parade in Tbilisi

Georgian Armed Forces today at a military parade on Rustaveli Avenue demonstrated a new military technology, created in Georgia. After the infantrymen who have already served in Iraq and Afghanistan, the military vehicles were demonstrated at the parade.

Movement of equipment was started by Georgian armored personnel carriers "Didgori" (named after the places where the Georgians won the greatest military victory in history). This was a major innovation in the parade.

The Georgian Defense Ministry stated that all the innovations of the military industry were taken into account in the establishment of the military vehicle. "Didgori" has been assembled in Georgia, particularly in the tank plant.

During the passage of armored vehicles, President Mikheil Saakashvili came down from the tribune, stopped the armored vehicles, personally examined it and talked with the military.

After "Didgori", there were demonstrated armored vehicles such as "Hammer" - a model HMMWV M1151 (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), transportation of high mobility, the model 1151 with heavy armor, the purpose - the transportation of personnel to the battlefield, export and escort. There are more than 15 modifications.

After the heavy armored vehicles and artillery systems, the aviation participated in the parade.
Aviation was represented by helicopter UH-1H (Iroquois), purpose: amphibious vehicle, the evacuation of wounded from the battlefield, Mi-8 - Model: Mi-8 Mi-8 MT, purpose:  transportation of personnel, cargo; helicopters Mi -24 - model: a combat helicopter Mi-24, a purpose: close air support to maneuver ground units.

Also there were demonstrated light combat aircrafts "I-39" - "Albatross", a purpose: training, retraining of pilots and combat training, combat aircrafts Su-25, model - Su-25 Su-25UB, Su-25 "Mimino", purpose: support of infantry from the air, pinpoint strikes, the destruction of the enemy and heavy equipment. After the flight of Su-25, the military parade ended.

Because of yesterday's events in Tbilisi, the dance of ensemble "Suhishvilebi" - "Horumi" was canceled.

The parade was headed by the Chief of the Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces, Major-General Devi Chankotadze, who gave a report Commander-in-Chief, President Mikheil Saakashvili.
