26 May 2011 [15:06] - TODAY.AZ
Some tried to disrupt parade, organize sabotage and destabilize the situation in Georgia on a scenario written from outside, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said when opening a military parade on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi.

He said that "all citizens have the right for freedom of speech and manifestation of freedom, the events that took place in Tbilisi in last few days has nothing to do with the postulates of freedom of speech".

According to Saakashvili, the opposition didn’t want freedom of speech, it wanted victims.
"I would like to offer my condolences to the bereaved families. We must understand and be constantly on guard, as all these provocations are pondered outside of our country and we are ready to provide this information," Saakashvili said.

He said Georgia will not step back and will continue to defend it freedom and independence from external encroachment.

"Georgia’s independence does not belong to some certain presidents, MPs or any party, it belogs to all the Georgian people," Saakashvili said. "We all are Georgia’s children, the independence belongs to all of us, and we will defend it until the last drop of blood," he added.
Saakashvili underscored that Georgia will be solidly behind of its independence, democracy and building of an independent state.

Parade participants commemorated all compatriots who died for Georgia’s territorial integrity with a moment of silence.

Two people were killed during clashes between the Georgian opposition and law enforcement agencies. As of this morning, about 37 victims of the running-down accident on demonstrations have been hospitalized. Eight of them are policemen, 28 ordinary citizens and one journalist of ITV broadcaster.
