26 May 2011 [13:11] - TODAY.AZ
Two people were killed during the dispersal of opposition demonstrations in Georgia, Georgian Interior Ministry's Analytical Department Head Shota Utiashvili said. He said cars from the opposition leaders’ escort run down on the two people and as a result they died.

"A 54-year-old policeman, Nodar Tskhadadze, was killed at the moment when the opposition leaders’ car escort was leaving the place of breaking up the meeting," Utiashvili said.

Tskhadadze was among the protesters, Utiashvili said. "Police lieutenant Vladimir Mashulashvili was also killed by running-down accident.

As of this morning, about 37 victims of the running-down accident on demonstrations have been hospitalized. Eight of them are policemen, 28 ordinary citizens and one journalist of ITV broadcaster, Utiashvili said.

"We express our condolences to the bereaved families and all victims," he said.
