A special commission was established for repatriation of Meskhetian Turks to Georgia. The repatriation may start early next year, chairman of Management Board of Motherland Society of Meskhetian Turks Shamsaddin Sarvarov said.

According to Sarvarov, the term of the commitment undertaken by Tbilisi before the Council of Europe concerning the repatriation of Meskhetian Turks to Georgia will expire this year. As a result of the talks the term of the procedure will be extended.

"The commission is working at present, one more meeting will be held in a few days. We hope we will return to our historical lands after 67-year parting," he said.

Sarvarov said the repatriation will be realized in several stages. It includes adoption of the decision, collection of applications for returning, status for repatriates etc. All these procedures are being discussed with the Georgian side.
