Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister discusses parliamentary ties with Croatian speaker

18 February 2010 [19:06] - TODAY.AZ
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ali Ahani in Zagreb on Thursday held talks with Speaker of Croatian Parliament Luka Bebic on issues of mutual interests.
The two sides called for expansion of parliamentary cooperation and share experience in this respect.

Ahani said that parliamentary cooperation will pave the way for political ties.

Bebic, for his part, described two countries parliamentary cooperation as excellent.

The speaker of the Croatian parliament said that there are enormous common grounds encouraging enhanced cooperation between the two nations and invited his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani to visit Croatia in near future.

Ahani's visit to Croatia was planned to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Croatian President Ivo Josipovic on Thursday.

Josipovic, a 52-year-old law expert and classical music composer, takes over from popular centrist Stipe Mesic who held the post since 2000.
