Turkish journalist drowns in Egypt

Ersan Karaoğlu, the Istanbul news chief of FOX TV, was found drowned at the Rasa Muhammad National Park near Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt on Thursday.
Officials have confirmed the journalist’s death.

Doctors who were rushed to the location by sea ambulance tried to save Karaoğlu, but their efforts proved fruitless. Karaoğlu’s body will be sent to the Turkish Consulate General in Cairo and from there back to Turkey.

The journalist, born in 1978 in Ankara, was in Egypt as part of a press tour organized by a tourism company. The press tour wlll be cut short and the participating journalists will be in Istanbul by Thursday evening.

He was previously employed by the Doğan news agency and the Ihlas news agency. Karaoğlu was married and father to a daughter.
