Turkish Minister sees Cyprus as "education base"

Turkish National Education Minister Nimet Cubukcu said on Friday that Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was very suitable for being an education base.
Cubukcu arrived in TRNC on Thursday as the guest of TRNC Education, Youth & Sports Minister Kemal Durust. She began her meetings today with TRNC Parliament Speaker Hasan Bozer, Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Commander Gen. Hilmi Akin Zorlu as well as Minister Durust.

During her talks, Cubukcu said that TRNC had always been important for Turkey, adding that education was one of the most important factors to further progress the relations between Turkey and TRNC.

Cubukcu said that Turkey's support to TRNC in education area would continue.

She said that education was a sine qua non for development, progress and democratization of a country.

Cubukcu added that after ODTU (Middle East Technical University in Ankara), ITU (Istanbul Technical University) would open a campus in TRNC too.
