France, U.S. welcome Georgia's Abkhaz, S. Ossetia strategy

The U.S. embassy said that it “strongly supports” objectives of “a new engagement strategy with the separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.”

“The strategy is a constructive step towards easing tensions and a way to reach out to all residents of the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” it said.

The French embassy described the strategy as “important” and “constructive” initiative and called on all stakeholders to take “a positive” approach and to facilitate implementation of the strategy objectives.
