Turkmenistan pays special attention to strengthening traditionally friendly and constructive relations with the United States, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

There is a solid potential for the diversification of the bilateral partnership with the U.S., the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) quoted the president as saying.

Turkmenistan’s capital city, Ashgabat recently hosted a meeting of Turkmen-American Business Council, which adopted an action plan for cooperation in 2017. The council with 22 large U.S. companies on board is aimed at stimulating investment activities.

While addressing to the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov stressed the important role that Turkmen-American Business Council plays in terms of expanding economic and trade relations. He emphasized the Council’s positive influence on cooperation and its potential for new perspectives.

Ashgabat regularly hosts exhibitions of American companies, accompanied by high-level business forums and business deals.

The cooperation between Turkmenistan and the U.S. is expected to further continue in areas, such as the supply of agricultural machinery, modernization of technical civil aviation fleet of Turkmenistan and import of energy technologies.

The U.S. also supports regional gas pipeline projects from Turkmenistan, such as TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) and the Trans-Caspian through Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe.
