European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif have met in Tehran to discuss bilateral ties as well as the Syrian crisis.
Mogherini arrived in Tehran last night to discuss Syrian developments with Iranian officials, IRNA news agency reported Oct. 29.
According to the report, she is also expected to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday.
Mogherini’s visit to Tehran comes following Zarif’s intensive talks with his Russian and Syrian counterparts, Sergey Lavrov and Walid Muallem.
The EU official is slated to leave Tehran for Saudi capital, Riyadh this evening.
