Iran’s UN office celebrates Novruz with 11 members

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations hosted a Novruz (Nowruz or Norouz) celebration with participation of the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and 11 UN members, IRNA reported March 22.

Head of the UN General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft and the UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova also took part in the event.

“Representatives of Azerbaijan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also gathered at Iran’s permanent mission in the UN,” said the report.

Novruz is celebrated by more than 300 million people worldwide.
