Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili signed an order on appointment of Giorgi Kvirikashvili the Prime Minister on December 30.
Kvirikashvili, 48 years old, has served as the foreign minister before being nominated for the post of prime minister following Irakly Garibashvili's sudden resignation last Wednesday.
The Georgian parliament passed a majority vote of confidence for the new government led by Georgy Kvirikashvili, a new Prime Minister, on December 29.
Eighty-six lawmakers backed the new Cabinet and the program it provided, while 26 lawmakers voted against it.
"The new government led by Kvirikashvili has been approved by the majority of the votes," Speaker David Usupashvili said.
