Japan hit by 6.7 magnitude quake

A magnitude 6.7 quake struck off Okinawa, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Sunday, but no tsunami was expected, Reuters reported.

The USGS said the quake was centered 89 miles north-northwest of Naha, Okinawa, at a depth of almost 70 miles.

A tsunami was not expected, the National Weather Service's Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
