Iran, IAEA ink joint statement

On Monday Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a joint statement for further mutual cooperation, ISNA news agency reported on Nov. 11.

The statement was signed by the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano and head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, Ali Akbar Salehi.

Deputy foreign minister for administrative and financial affairs Behrouz Kamalvandi said that the talks were held in a very successful and serious atmosphere and as a result of these talks this joint statement was signed to strengthen cooperation in various spheres between Iran and IAEA.

Director General of the Yukiya Amano arrived in the Iranian capital earlier Monday.

Amano arrived in Tehran at the invitation of the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, Ali Akbar Salehi.

A new cooperation agreement will also be signed between Iran and the IAEA, ISNA reported citing a diplomatic source. Ali Akbar Salehi and Yukiya Amano will sign the agreement.

Previous talks were held between Iran and IAEA on October 29-30 in Vienna.
