Moscow warns the U.S against any strikes on chemical facilities in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday, RIA Novosti reported.
U.S president Barack Obama requested sanctions from the Congress for military operations in Syria. Washington believes that the use of chemical weapons in Syria on August 21 by the country's authorities near Damascus as a result of which over 1,400 people were killed has been proven.
"We warn U.S authorities and their allies against any strikes on chemical facilities and the territories surrounding them. Such actions would create a new dangerous turning point in the tragic development of the Syrian crisis," according to a comment of Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with discussion of " scenarios" of U.S' military operation in Syria which was held in Washington.
"There would be the threat of emissions of highly toxic chemicals with further consequences for civilians and ecology. In addition, as a result of such reckless action, militants and terrorist may also get access to chemical weapons and military toxic substances," the agency added.
